New Delhi: Three coal projects of Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL) have achieved their annual coal production targets much ahead of the completion of the financial Year 2020-21.  Jayant one of the mega projects of NCL hit the 20 million tonne coal production mark on March 18 and met its annual production target. Other projects namely Dudhichua and Kakri also completed their targets earlier this month.

On this achievement, NCL's Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) PK Sinha and functional directors of NCL have congratulated the project teams for these remarkable achievements and appreciated the efforts of all coal warriors who fought this battle in the pandemic time.

NCL in chasing its target of 113.25 MT coal productions has produced 110.09 MT of coal with y-o-y growth of 6.32 percent to date. The company has dispatched 104.47 MT coal out of which, more than 75 percent of coal was delivered to power plants. The NCL has also performed extraordinarily in overburden (OB) removal i.e. the material above coal layers (seams) required to be removed for coal exposure and extraction. OB removal is a vital parameter indicating the performance of an opencast mine. NCL has given 17.46 percent growth in OB removal with the removal of massive 364.04 million cubic meters of OB.

NCL is Singrauli, the Energy Capital of India-based, coal-producing company which operates with ten highly mechanised open cast coal mines, supplying the majority of coal to powerhouses. The company is also eyeing about 130 MT coal production by 2023-24 in its contribution to make country 'Atmnirbhar' in the coal sector.
