New Delhi: Abhishek Narang (IRS) has been selected for appointment as Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Culture under the central staffing scheme (CSS) for a combined tenure of four years, ie up to December 31, 2022, from the date of taking over charge of the post or until further orders, whichever takes place earlier, said an official order from the Department of Personnel & Traning (DoPT) on Wednesday. "He may kindly be relieved of his duties immediately with instructions to take up his new assignment in the Ministry of Culture," the order added.

Narang is an Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer of the 2008-batch. He is currently on 'compulsory wait' in the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT). Earlier, he was serving as Deputy Commissioner of Income Tax. He is an alumnus of ICFAI Business School. He also holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Finance from ICFAI Business School.
