New Delhi: The Central Government has approved the appointment of Abhimanyu Kumar (IAS) as Deputy Secretary in the Department of Commerce under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. According to an official order from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), he has been appointed to the post under the Central Staffing Scheme (CSS) for a period of four years from the date of taking over charge of the post or until further orders, whichever event takes place earlier.

Abhimanyu is a 2011-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of Rajasthan cadre. He is currently posted as Commissioner of Horticulture Department in the state government of Rajasthan. "He may kindly be relieved of his duties immediately with instructions to take up his new assignment in the Department of Commerce," the order further read.

The Department of Commerce is a department under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. The department is responsible for formulating, implementing and monitoring the Foreign Trade Policy (FTP) which provides the basic framework of policy and strategy to be followed for promoting exports and trade. The trade policy is periodically reviewed to incorporate changes necessary to take care of emerging economic scenarios both in the domestic and international economy.
