New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Jawed Ashraf, former Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer of the 1991 batch, as the Chairman of the India Trade Promotion Organization (ITPO).
According to the order, Ashraf, who retired from the IFS, will assume the role on a contract basis for a period of two years from the date he takes charge, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. His appointment will be governed by the usual terms and conditions applicable to re-employed Central Government officers.
Jawed Ashraf has previously served in several high-profile diplomatic positions, and his appointment is expected to further strengthen ITPO’s mandate in promoting India’s trade and global business engagement.
