New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Ashish Kumar Singh Arya (IFS) on deputation as Adviser in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Secretariat, Beijing. According to an order from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), Arya has been appointed to the post on a deputation basis for a period of three years from the date of taking over charge of the post or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Arya is an Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer of the 2008-batch. He is currently posted as Deputy Secretary, Development Partnership Administration Division, Ministry of External Affairs.

Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO)

The Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), or Shanghai Pact, is a Eurasian political, economic, and security alliance, the creation of which was announced on June 15, 2001 in Shanghai, China, by the leaders of China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. The Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Charter, formally establishing the organisation, was signed in June 2002 and entered into force on September 19, 2003.
