Bishnu Charan Mallick (IAS) appointed as Director of Census Operation, Rajasthan

New Delhi: (DoPT News) The government has appointed Bishnu Charan Mallick (IAS) as Director of Census Operations (DCO)/ Director of Citizen Registration (DCR), Rajasthan. According to an order from Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), Mallick has been appointed to the post (Deputy Secretary level) under the central staffing scheme (CSS) for a period of three years with effect from the date of assumption of charge of the post or until further orders, whichever is earlier. He was recommended by the state government of Rajasthan.

Bishnu Charan Mallick (IAS) is a 2007-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of Rajasthan cadre. Presently, he is serving as Managing Director (MD) of Rajasthan Skill and Livelihood Mission. Earlier, he was Excise Commissioner for govt of Rajasthan.

Census Organisation

The Indian Census is the largest single source of a variety of statistical information on different characteristics of the people of India. With a history of more than 130 years, this reliable, time tested exercise has been bringing out a veritable wealth of statistics every 10 years, beginning from 1872 when the first census was conducted in India non-synchronously in different parts. The responsibility of the organisation is to conduct the decennial Census rests with the Office of the Registrar General and Census Commissioner, India under Ministry of Home Affairs.
