New Delhi: Shailendra Singh (IAS), who is currently serving as Additional Secretary in the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has been given tenure extension for a period of six months. According to an order from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved extension in tenure of Shailendra Singh (IAS) for a period of six months beyond January 21 i.e. up-to July 21, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Shailendra Singh is a 1988-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of Madhya Pradesh cadre. He is serving as Additional Secretary in the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry since July 2017. He holds a degree in Law. Early in his career, Singh was Collector of Raigarh and Mandsaur districts in Madhya Pradesh. Between June 1999 and January 2003, he was Managing Director of the Madhya Pradesh State Industrial Development Corporation, post which he took over as the Managing Director of the Milk Board in Agriculture & Cooperation (Dairy).
Prior to his current joining DIPP, Singh has held important positions such as Chief Executive Officer of MP Rural Road Development Authority, Commissioner of Commercial Tax Department, Managing Director of State Mining Development Corporation and Principal Secretary of SC/ST Welfare Department.
In a separate order issued on the same day, the ACC has also approved the proposal of the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs for premature repatriation of Manish Thakur (IAS) to his parent cadre on personal grounds. Thakur is a 1998-bath Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of Assam cadre. He is currently serving as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs.
