New Delhi: The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has approved the re-designation of the post of Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), presently held by Guriqbal Singh, IPS (AGMUT cadre: 2012), as Director in the Ministry as a measure personal to him.

According to an official order, the re-designation will take effect from January 1, 2026, or from the date of assumption of charge of the re-designated post, whichever is later. The approval is valid for a period up to February 24, 2030, corresponding to the admissible five-year tenure under the Central Staffing Scheme, or until further orders.

Singh has been on central deputation with effect from February 24, 2025 (afternoon). The decision follows a proposal submitted by the Ministry of Home Affairs and has been approved by the competent authority.
