IPS officer Jatin Narwal appointed as Director in Department of Sports

IPS officer Jatin Narwal has been selected for the appointment as Director in the Department of Sport under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports

New Delhi: Jatin Narwal (IPS) has been selected for the appointment as Director in the Department of Sport under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. According to an order from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), he has been selected for the appointment under the Central Staffing Scheme (CSS) for a period of five years from the date of taking over charge of the post or until further orders, whichever event takes place earlier.

Narwal is a 2006-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the AGMUT cadre. He was recommended for Central deputation by the Ministry of Home Affairs. Jatin Narwal is an alumnus of Hans Raj College of the Delhi University. He has earlier served as DCP (North) in the Delhi Police, and DCP, Andaman & Nicobar police. "He may kindly be relieved of his duties immediately with instructions to take up his new assignment in the Department of Sports," the order further read.

Department of Sport

The Department of Sports is a division of the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports under the government of India. It was created on April 30, 2008. The Department is responsible for the promotion of sports and games and youth welfare programmes in the country. It also helped in bringing the FIFA U-17 World cup to India.
