According to an official order issued from the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on June 2, Nivas will serve in this dual role at the Director level until December 31, 2025, or until further orders—whichever is earlier. The appointment has been approved by the Competent Authority, and the Government of Andhra Pradesh has been directed to relieve the officer immediately so that he may assume his new responsibilities without delay.

The directive also references guidelines from the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), which stipulate that an officer must join their new post within three weeks from the date of issuance of the appointment order. Failure to comply could lead to initiation of debarment procedures under the Central Staffing Scheme.

The Registrar General and Census Commissioner of India has been requested to issue a formal notification confirming Nivas's appointment, in line with the office memorandum dated May 30, 2025.
