The ACC has approved the appointment of Lokhande Prashant Sitaram (IAS) as Chairperson of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Tuesday

New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Lokhande Prashant Sitaram (IAS) as Chairperson of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) under the Ministry of Education.

According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on June 2, Lokhande Prashant Sitaram has been appointed as CBSE Chairperson in the rank and pay of Additional Secretary.

He succeeds Rahul Singh, who has been serving as Chairperson of CBSE.

Lokhande Prashant Sitaram is a 2001-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the AGMUT cadre. Presently, he is currently serving as Additional Secretary in the Department of Home, Ministry of Home Affairs.

In a related move, the ACC has approved the appointment of Rahul Singh, a 1996-batch IAS officer of the Bihar cadre, as Additional Secretary in the Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.

The development came amid growing controversy over the CBSE's newly introduced On-Screen Marking (OSM) evaluation system, following reports of severe technical glitches, mismatched answer sheets, and alleged corruption.
