R Prasad Meena (IPS) appointed as Director General (Investigation) of NHRC

The ACC has approved the appointment of R Prasad Meena (IPS) as the Director General (Investigation) in the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC)

New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of R Prasad Meena (IPS) as the Director General (Investigation) in the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC). Meena is a 1993-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the Assam-Meghalaya cadre.

According to an order issued form the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), Meena will assume responsibilities in the NHRC at Level 16 in the Pay Matrix, equivalent to the rank of Special Director General. His tenure will extend until July 31, 2025, which marks his superannuation, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Prior to this appointment, Meena served as Special Director General in the Border Security Force (BSF). The Ministry of Home Affairs proposed his appointment, which was endorsed by the Cabinet's Appointments Committee.
