Sunil Kumar Gupta (IAS) appointed as Secretary to Vice President

New Delhi: Sunil Kumar Gupta (IAS) has been appointed as Secretary to the Vice President of India Jagdeep Dhankhar. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Gupta on August 17. According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), Govt has appointed Gupta as Secretary of Vice President on a deputation basis, for a period with effect from the date of his assumption of charge of the post till the date of his superannuation on December 31, 2023, or until further orders.

Gupta is a 1987-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the West Bengal cadre. Presently, he is serving in his cadre state West Bengal. Gupta had earlier worked with Dhankhar when he was the West Bengal governor.

Jagdeep Dhankhar is an Indian politician and lawyer, who is serving as the 14th and current vice president of India since 11 August 2022. Prior to serving in this position, he served as the Governor of West Bengal.
