New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Swagat Ranveerchand Bhandari (IAS) as Director in the Department of Financial Services under the Ministry of Finance. Her appointment is under the Central Staffing Scheme and will be effective until July 29, 2029 — marking the completion of a combined five-year tenure including both ex-cadre and Central Staffing Scheme deputations.

Bhandari is a 2010-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Kerala cadre.

The Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) issued the formal order on August 6, 2025, directing the Chief Secretary of Kerala to relieve Ms. Bhandari immediately so she can assume charge of her new role in the Ministry of Finance.

Bhandari holds a strong academic foundation with a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering from the University of Mumbai. She further enhanced her professional credentials with a Master’s in Business Administration from the Stephen M. Ross School of Business, University of Michigan, USA, and also completed a Master’s in Public Policy from Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU).

Over the course of her career, Bhandari has held several significant positions in Kerala, including District Collector of Kasaragod, Director of Industries & Commerce, Managing Director of Kerala Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (Milma), Director for Scheduled Tribes Development, and Sub-Collector of Fort Kochi. She has also served in planning and finance-related roles in the state government.
