Vinod Seshan (IAS) appointed as Director in Petroleum Ministry

New Delhi: Vinod Seshan (IAS) has been appointed as Director in the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas (MoPNG). The Central Government has approved his appointment on Thursday. According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), Seshan has been appointed to the post under the Central Staffing Scheme (CSS) for a period of five years with effect from the date of taking over charge of the post or until further orders, whichever event takes place earlier.

Seshan is a 2008-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of Assam cadre. He is currently posted as Secretary in the Agriculture Department, Govt of Assam. Seshan is an Engineering Graduate (Electronics and Communications Engineering) from Siddaganga Institute of Technology. He has also done MA in Public Policy from Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU). He joined Indian Administrative Services in 2008. Previously, he was working as a Software Engineer in HCL.

MoPNG is responsible for the exploration, production, refining, distribution, marketing, import, export, and conservation of petroleum, natural gas, petroleum products, and liquefied natural gas in India. The ministry is headed by Union Cabinet Minister Hardeep Singh Puri.
