New Delhi: As the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) approved the summer schedules of domestic airlines like Vistara, IndiGo, Air India and Go Air till October 26, Jet Airways summer schedule got a nod only until April 25, according to an official document.

The summer schedule begins from March 31 for all airlines. The DGCA approves two schedules every year, in keeping with international practice, a summer schedule which is effective from Sunday of the last week of March and a winter schedule which is effective from Sunday of the last week of October.

The backdrop

The move comes as the National Aviator's Guild (NAG), the union that claims to represent some 1,100 pilots at Jet Airways, deferred its call to halt operations till April 15 on Sunday. The union had earlier said that pilots will go ahead with a "no flying" call from April 1 because Jet had failed to clear their dues and there was no clarity on a revival plan either.

The Jet Airways board had approved a resolution plan for the debt-ridden airline on March 25. As per the plan, the consortium of lenders led by the State Bank of India would take control of the airline and infuse Rs 1,500 crores into it.

Founder Naresh Goyal's stake in the airline has now come down to 25.5 percent from 51 percent, and that of Etihad Airways has come down to 12 percent from 24 percent.
