Tata Communications MD & CEO steps down from post

Kumar’s resignation will be effective from end of business on July 5 and the board has started the process to look for his successor, the company said

New Delhi: Managing Director and Group CEO of Tata Communications Vinod Kumar has stepped down from the position on Tuesday, citing personal reasons, a regulatory filing by the company said. It added that Kumar's resignation will be effective from end of business on July 5 and the board has started the process to look for his successor. A decision to appoint someone to the post will be taken at the earliest, the company told its shareholders.

Kumar's background

Kumar joined Tata Communications in April 2004, around the time the company began its international operations. Including his stint at Tata, he has close to 25 years of experience in the global telecom industry.

Prior to joining Tata Communications, Kumar has served as a Senior Vice President with Asia Netcom from 2002-2004 where he was responsible for strategy formulation, product marketing and sales.

Vinod holds a bachelor's degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science in India.
