AAI employees distribute food items to flood affected in Assam

Guwahati: Continuing its commitment to serve the society, Airports Authority of India at North East Region (AAI-NER) has came forward to help the families which are badly affected by the Assam Floods 2020. Employees of AAI, Guwahati Airport have started distributing food Relief materials from August 5 in several localities near Guwahati Airport. The truck carrying flood relief was flagged off by the Regional Executive Director (officiating) JT Radhakrishna, General Managers and Employees union representatives of AAI.

Members of Union representatives actively participated in the flood relief distribution programme. The areas covered included Guimara and Simna area of Kamrup (Non-Metro) district, Assam which are badly affected due to flood of Brahmaputra river. It has covered around 400 families in the area and AAI has aimed to reach over 1000 families affected by floods.

Flood relief Items included Pohha 2kgs, Mustard Oil 1 Lt, packets of biscuits, Candles and 1.5kgs Onion in each relief packet. The next areas to be covered is targeted near Dakhala (Bijoynagar), Palasbari and periphery of Guwahati Airport Area. The distribution will continue for this and next week also.

As a continuous process of corporate social responsibility (CSR), AAI is working in the field of social upliftment not only for a vision but for fighting ongoing pandemic of corona as well. We are helping our stakeholders and the poor villagers who are affected due to the devastating flood and have been badly affected by other challengers.

Till the date, AAI has procured about 2,000 packets of Poha- 1kg each, 2,000 packets of mustard oil 1/2 kg each, 2,000 packets of biscuit, 2,000 candles of 10 pcs packet, 1,665 Kg of onion for this phase of flood relief material. If required AAI will add more materials and numbers in coming days.

Earlier in 2019 also, AAI had distributed food relief materials and cooked meals to the families displaced in the relief camps. All the recognised union, engineering guild, ATC guild and other establishments volunteered for this relief work.
