An MoU has been signed with three leading organisations in Bengaluru, the HCG Foundation, the Aster DM Foundation, and the Bhagwan Mahaveer Memorial Jain Trust, in the presence of our Coal India's Director (P&IR) Vinay Ranjan. Under the new MoUs, hospitals affiliated with these organisations will perform bone marrow transplants.

In 2017, Coal India Limited became the first public sector organisation to launch a CSR project for the curative treatment of thalassaemia through BMT surgeries. So far, more than 570 transplants have been performed under this initiative and financial assistance of Rs 10 lakhs for each patient are provided whose family income is less then Rs 8 lakh per annum. Currently, the third phase of the initiative is for Rs 30 crore and for three years.
