CSR: REC donates Mobile Medical Units to strengthen healthcare services in Punjab

New Delhi: REC Limited, under its flagship Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, has committed Rs 4.29 crore for the procurement and deployment of four Mobile Medical Units (MMUs) across four districts of Punjab. These MMUs were handed over to the Indian Red Cross Society, Punjab, and were flagged off by the Governor of Punjab Gulab Chand Kataria, at Punjab Raj Bhawan.

The initiative aims to enhance healthcare accessibility for underserved communities by providing essential medical services directly to their doorstep. These units will serve as a crucial healthcare lifeline for people residing in remote and disadvantaged areas. REC Foundation has been actively expanding its CSR footprint, with several MMUs already operational across India.

During the flag-off ceremony, the Governor lauded REC's efforts in ensuring doorstep healthcare services for the deprived and underprivileged communities. The event, held at Raj Bhawan in Chandigarh, was attended by senior state officials, including K Siva Prasad, Additional Chief Secretary to the Governor; VP Singh, Principal Secretary to the Governor; S Dhillon, CEO of IRCS Punjab; and other dignitaries. REC officials present at the event included Pradeep Fellows, Executive Director (CSR), and MA Ali, Senior CPM, REC Panchkula.

REC Foundation has played a significant role in social development by supporting over 400 projects across various domains, including healthcare, sanitation, clean water access, education, skill development, women empowerment, sports, and environmental sustainability. To date, REC has disbursed over Rs 1,300 crore in CSR funds, with its cumulative commitment to CSR activities exceeding Rs 2,000 crore.
