GSL joins nation’s fight against Corona, contributes Rs 1.75 crore

Vasco/Goa: Miniratna Defence PSU Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL) has extended a financial support of Rs 1.25 crore towards the Prime Minister's citizen assistance and relief in emergency situations (PM CARES) Fund and Rs 50 lakhs towards Chief Minister relief fund of the government of Goa to support country's war against Coronavirus (COVID-19).

In addition this, all the employees of the Shipyard have contributed their one day's salary towards this same cause. Besides that GSL has distributed 5,000 face masks to Goa Police personnel and 3,000 face masks to local administration and MMC staff who are involved in Coronavirus (COVID-19) relief duty.

GSL has also taken prompt action with regards to the release of payments for MSME suppliers, contract workers and outsourced workforce in order to avoid any financial hardship. GSL is providing logistics support to local administration through vehicles, manpower for sanitation work etc.

GSL's Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) Cmde BB Nagpal said, under the corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative, the financial aid provided by Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL) will be used as a part of preventive and relief measures against the Coronavirus (COVID-19), in the state of Goa. GSL stands strongly by society in these testing times. As a responsible corporate, GSL will work towards implementation of all precautionary measures to deal with the pandemic.
