Sudhansu Mohan Samal (IAS) appointed Chairman-cum-Managing Director of Odisha Mining Corporation

New Delhi/Bhubaneswar: The State Government of Odisha has promoted Sudhansu Mohan Samal (IAS), as Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) of Odisha Mining Corporation Limited (OMC).

Samal, who is currently serving as Managing Director of OMC with additional charge as Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC), Central Division, Cuttack, will continue to hold the additional charge of RDC, Central Division, alongside his new responsibility as CMD of OMC.

With this new responsibility, Samal will replace Girish SN (IAS) who was serving as Chairman of OMC.

According to an order issued by the Government of Odisha, Samal's appointment as CMD of OMC will take effect from the date he assumes charge of the post and will remain in force until further orders.

Hailing from Kendrapara, Samal is a highly qualified economist who previously served in the Planning Commission and managed multiple districts as a District Collector before transitioning to corporate leadership.

During his tenure, OMC has undertaken an aggressive digital and operational transformation to achieve international compliance standards and maximize state revenues.

Samal has championed a "futuristic approach" for the public sector enterprise, actively deploying advanced technological interventions to phase out legacy manual processes, upgrade product consistency, and optimize supply-chain transparency.

Notable modernizations driven by his office include the commissioning of the Integrated Operations & Monitoring Centre for real-time digital oversight of field extractions, as well as launching custom digital tools like the e-Safety Diary and the Secure Trip Management System to guarantee workforce welfare and airtight logistics control.
