MCL signs Rs 5.99 crore MoU for education and community development in Jharsuguda

MCL has signed two MoUs with District Administration, Jharsuguda, to implement key CSR projects aimed at enhancing educational infrastructure and promoting community development in the district

New Delhi/Sambalpur: Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) has signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with the District Administration, Jharsuguda, to implement key Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects aimed at enhancing educational infrastructure and promoting community development in the district. The total investment under these initiatives amounts to Rs 5.99 crore.

Under the first MoU, MCL will provide Rs 4.50 crore for the construction of electrified classrooms at Brajrajnagar College and the rejuvenation and beautification of the Khaliakani Pond in Brajrajnagar. The pond restoration work includes jetty construction, pathway development, and landscaping to improve its ecological balance and transform it into a vibrant community space.

In the second MoU, MCL has committed Rs 1.49 crore for setting up ICT (Information and Communication Technology) labs in 130 Government Upper Primary Schools across Jharsuguda district. Each lab will be equipped with desktop computers, UPS systems, tables, and chairs to enhance access to digital education and improve learning outcomes.

These projects underscore MCL’s continued commitment to fostering inclusive growth through education and infrastructure development. By promoting digital literacy and improving community amenities, MCL aims to contribute to sustainable development across its operational areas.
