NCL to fight malnutrition amongst children

Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL) has signed an MoU with Chief Medical & Health Officer of District Singrauli (MP) to reduce malnutrition in rural crèches in Singrauli (MP)

New Delhi: Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL), a Miniratna PSU under the Ministry of Coal, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Chief Medical & Health Officer of District Singrauli, MP to reduce malnutrition in rural crèches in Singrauli.

As per the MoU, NCL will spend an amount of Rs 128.86 lakhs over a period of two years towards reducing malnutrition in children in creches across 75 villages in Singrauli district of Madhya Pradesh. The financial assistance given by the NCL will be utilised in nutrition diets for children. In addition to this, physical activity such as Yoga and learning programmes will be also organised for children. This information was shared by the coal PSU in a tweet on Saturday.

NCL is a subsidiary of the largest coal producer of the world: Coal India Limited (CIL). NCL produces 15 percent of the total coal produced in the country and contributes 10 percent to the total electricity generation of the nation. The company, which is headquartered in Singrauli district of Madhya Pradesh, operates through its 10 highly mechanised opencast mines spread across Singrauli and Sonebhadra districts of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.
