NTPC to support establishment of national-level archery academy at Nava Raipur

New Delhi: NTPC Limited has announced financial support of Rs 68.20 crore under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative for the establishment of a National-Level Archery Academy at Nava Raipur, Chhattisgarh.

A Tripartite Agreement for setting up the academy has been signed on Friday at NTPC’s Naya Raipur office by Diwakar Kaushik, RED (WR-II) & CEO (NSPCL) from NTPC; Chandan Kumar (IAS), CEO, Naya Raipur Atal Nagar Vikas Pradhikaran (NRANVP); and Tanuja Salam (IAS), Director, Sports and Youth Welfare Department, Government of Chhattisgarh, in the presence of senior officials from NTPC and the state government.

The academy, to be built over 13.47 acres of land in Sector-3 near the International Cricket Stadium, Village Parsada, Nava Raipur, will feature world-class training and residential facilities. Major components include a 30-lane Outdoor Archery Range, an Air-Conditioned Indoor Archery Facility, a High-Performance Centre, Hostel for Players, Staff Residences, and advanced training infrastructure such as Archery Equipment, Shooting Video Analysis System, Digital Scoreboards, and High Mast Lighting. The complex will also include solar installations, spectator seating, fountains, and sculptural work, reflecting NTPC’s emphasis on sustainability and aesthetics.

In addition to the national academy, NTPC will also extend Rs 20.53 crore for the development of a Grassroot Archery Academy at Tehsil Shanna in Jashpur district, Chhattisgarh, aimed at nurturing young sporting talent at the local level.

NTPC’s CSR intervention aligns with its commitment to nation-building through sports promotion and youth development. Beyond its sporting initiatives, NTPC continues to be India’s largest power producer, contributing nearly one-fourth of the country’s electricity needs with an installed capacity of over 83 GW and 30.90 GW under construction, including 13.3 GW of renewable energy capacity. The company aims to achieve 60 GW of renewable capacity by 2032, supporting India’s transition towards a Net Zero future.
