The LLLR-I systems are designed to detect and track fighter-sized aerial targets as well as mini and micro drones. They also have the capability to prioritise aerial targets, enabling the Indian Army to respond more effectively to threats posed by unmanned aerial systems (UAS).

The procurement is expected to support the modernisation of the Army's air defence capabilities while strengthening indigenous defence manufacturing.
