Dashboard of Department of Defence Production launched. Why?

Dashboard of Department of Defence Production is supposed to be effectively monitoring the budget expenditure, redressal of public grievances and clearance of public projects on defence land

New Delhi: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday launched Dashboard of Department of Defence Production in the Defence Ministry. The website of the Dashboard of Department of Defence Production will run as an independent vertical under the website of Department of Defence Production. The internal Dashboard will be used for effective monitoring of budget expenditure of the ministry of defence, redressal of public grievances and clearance of public projects on defence land.

The Dashboard of Department of Defence Production has various categories including defence export, defence offset, defence production, Mission Raksha gyan shakti, Make-II projects, Startups in defence, Uttar pradesh defence corridor, AI in defence and Tamilnadu Defence Corridor.

According to the defence export tab in the Dashboard of Department of Defence website India has so far achieved production of Rs 35,136 Crore while the target for the current fiscal is Rs 90,000 Crore. India had achieved the target of 80,502 Crore in the last fiscal, though.

During the review of the Dashboard, Rajnath Singh directed senior officials of the Ministry to devise mechanisms so that public grievances may be disposed off on priority.

Defence Secretary Dr Ajay Kumar explained the features and the main objectives of the Dashboard.

He informed that through this initiative, the DoD will be able to better monitor major initiatives of the department in a more effective way.
