New Delhi: The Ministry of Defence (MoD) on Wednesday said that it has signed a contract worth Rs 449 crore with Accord Software and Systems Private Limited (ASSPL) for the procurement of 20 Enhanced Capability Global Navigation Satellite System (ECGNSS) Jammers for the Indian Navy.

The contract, signed under the Buy (Indian–Indigenously Designed, Developed and Manufactured) category, was inked in New Delhi on June 10 in the presence of Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh. The project will be executed with a minimum indigenous content of 75 percent, reinforcing the government's emphasis on self-reliance in defence manufacturing.

According to the Ministry of Defence, the ECGNSS Jammers are designed to degrade the satellite signal acquisition and tracking performance of adversary Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) receivers. The systems are also capable of carrying out signal spoofing and deceptive jamming operations, enhancing the Indian Navy's ability to operate securely in contested and multi-threat environments.

The induction of these advanced systems is expected to improve the survivability and operational effectiveness of Indian naval platforms by protecting them against hostile navigation and targeting systems that rely on satellite-based positioning signals.

The contract is aligned with the Government's flagship Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India initiatives and represents another milestone in the ongoing effort to indigenise advanced defence technologies. It is also expected to contribute to the development of the domestic defence industrial ecosystem while strengthening India's maritime security architecture.
