This collaboration marks a pivotal step in the development of indigenous commercial shipbuilding infrastructure in the country. Under the MoU, GRSE and SWAN Defence will work together on a non-exclusive basis for the construction of commercial vessels and offshore structures, catering to both domestic and global clients. The alliance aims to strengthen national maritime interests while creating opportunities for Indian shipbuilders to compete in international markets.

The partnership will leverage the complementary strengths of both shipyards—ranging from infrastructure and engineering expertise to design capabilities. A key focus will be on scouting for new projects, jointly developing standard platform designs, and evolving efficient construction strategies to ensure timely delivery and cost-effective solutions.

As part of the agreement, the two companies will also work together on the commissioning, trials, and repair of commercial vessels and offshore platforms. The collaboration is expected to foster the development of a robust vendor ecosystem and promote employment through focused skill development initiatives.

Speaking about the initiative, GRSE emphasized its commitment to enhancing India’s self-reliance in shipbuilding by delivering innovative, high-quality, and competitively priced maritime solutions.
