New Delhi: The India-Bangladesh Naval Exercise Bongosagar 2025 and Coordinated Patrol was successfully conducted in the Bay of Bengal this week, reinforcing maritime security cooperation between the two nations. The exercise saw the participation of INS Ranvir from the Indian Navy and BNS Abu Ubaidah from the Bangladesh Navy.
Aimed at enhancing interoperability, the joint exercise facilitated collaborative responses to shared maritime security challenges. The drills included a range of complex naval operations such as surface firing, tactical maneuvers, underway replenishment, Visit-Board-Search-Seizure (VBSS) cross boarding, communication drills, and professional knowledge assessments for operational teams and junior officers.
This engagement provided an opportunity for both navies to strengthen tactical planning, coordination, and information sharing, ensuring seamless maritime operations. The enhanced cooperation is expected to improve both navies’ capability to undertake joint operations and respond swiftly to emerging threats at sea.
The growing synergy between the Indian and Bangladesh navies underscores their shared commitment to regional security and stability. The exercise aligns with India's Security And Growth for All in the Region (SAGAR) initiative, reinforcing the strategic vision of a safe and prosperous Indo-Pacific region.
