The recognition marks a significant milestone in sustainable infrastructure development, showcasing the innovative use of difficult-to-manage plastic waste in road construction through scientifically developed geocell technology.

The felicitation ceremony was held at CSIR-CRRI in New Delhi in the presence of N Kalaiselvi, Director General of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and Secretary, DSIR.

According to CSIR-CRRI, the initiative addresses key national priorities of sustainable waste management and resilient infrastructure by converting end-of-life plastic into value-added construction materials, aligned with circular economy principles.

Senior officials from both organisations highlighted that the technology ensures structural integrity, durability and field applicability, supported by extensive testing and validation studies. The collaboration also underscores the role of industry-academia partnerships in translating research into scalable, real-world solutions.
