New Delhi: Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL) has launched Special Campaign 6.0 under the 'Waste to Wealth' theme of the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances and the 'eWaste Management' theme of the Ministry of Coal, with a focus on improving workplace cleanliness, sustainability and operational efficiency.

The campaign will centre on four key areas — e-waste management, pendency reduction, space optimisation and digitalisation. It will be implemented in two phases, with the preparatory phase scheduled from September 15 to September 30, 2026, followed by the implementation phase from October 2 to October 31, 2026.
The campaign was formally launched by ECL Chairman and Managing Director Satish Jha, who called for active participation from employees to achieve the objectives of Special Campaign 6.0. He emphasised the importance of collective efforts in ensuring effective implementation of the campaign across the organisation.

As part of the initiative, ECL will undertake systematic collection, segregation and responsible disposal of electronic waste. The company will also focus on reducing pendency of public grievances, appeals, references and communications received from various stakeholders, including Members of Parliament and state governments.
Another key priority will be the optimisation of office space through the identification and disposal of scrap, obsolete and unserviceable items occupying valuable space. ECL will also promote paperless and eco-friendly workplace practices by expanding the use of digitalisation to improve operational efficiency and reduce environmental impact.
The campaign was attended by ECL Director (Finance) Md. Anzar Alam, Director (HR) Gunjan Kumar Sinha, Director (Technical/P&P) Girish Gopinathan Nair, Director (Technical/Operations) Chitranjan Kumar, Nodal Officer for Special Campaign 6.0 Nazrul Islam, General Manager (HR), and senior officials from ECL headquarters and its various operational areas.
The initiative is being undertaken under the theme 'Act Today, Impact Tomorrow', with ECL seeking to integrate cleanliness, responsible waste management and digital workplace practices into its broader operational framework.
