NBCC-built Mahatma Gandhi Convention Centre inaugurated in Niger

Mahatma Gandhi International Convention Centre in Niger, which was conceived as an Indo-Niger friendship project, has been developed by NBCC

New Delhi: Minister for External Affairs S Jaishankar and Nigerian President Mahamadou Issoufou have jointly inaugurated 'Mahatma Gandhi International Convention Centre' (MGICC) in Niamey (the capital city of Niger) recently. This Indo-Niger friendship project has been developed by state-run Navratna PSU NBCC Limited, which falls under the administrative control of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA). "The project has been completed in a short span of 14 months by NBCC Limited and is the first established Mahatma Gandhi International Convention Centre in Africa," the PSU said in a statement.

During the inauguration ceremony, NBCC Limited's Director (Commercial) Rajendra Chaudhari and other officials of the Nigerian government were also present.

The convention centre has been designed as a spacious, modern and eco-friendly facility, including a 2,000 capacity Plenary Hall.

The PSU is certified with ISO 9001:2015 from the Bureau of Indian Standards in respect of project management and consultancy.
