NTPC Electron Quiz 2026-27: IIT Madras teams secure 1st and 2nd positions

The quiz was conducted across nine regional locations and attracted participation from more than 1,100 teams

New Delhi: Teams from IIT Madras emerged as the top two winners at NTPC’s Electron Quiz 2026-27, with Advik Kabra and Ashish Cherian Thannickal clinching the national championship in the annual business and management quiz organised by the power utility.

Sreeram Madhavan V and Ishaan Joshi, also from IIT Madras, secured the second position, while Waqar Moid and Parth Arya Bhat of IIT Kanpur finished third.

The national finale was held in Noida on October 8, marking the culmination of the competition that began on September 5 with the regional round in Lucknow. The quiz was conducted across nine regional locations and attracted participation from more than 1,100 teams.

At the national level, the winning team received Rs 1 lakh, while the second- and third-placed teams were awarded Rs 60,000 and Rs 40,000, respectively. Teams finishing fourth, fifth and sixth received Rs 16,000 each, while the remaining 12 finalist teams were awarded Rs 8,000 each.

The regional rounds were held in Lucknow, Patna, Ranchi, Raipur, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Noida.

At the regional level, the winning teams received Rs 60,000, while the second- and third-placed teams were awarded Rs 40,000 and Rs 20,000, respectively. Teams finishing fourth to sixth received Rs 8,000 each.

Anil Kumar Jadli, Director (HR), NTPC, congratulated the winners and participants, and urged the students to retain their spirit of learning and curiosity in their future careers.

Jadli also highlighted NTPC's transformation from a traditional power utility into an integrated energy major, and encouraged the students to embrace adaptability and transformation in their own professional journeys.

S. N. Panigrahi, Executive Director (HR), Premlata, Executive Director (Strategic HRD & Talent Development), senior NTPC executives, employees and students from various institutes were also present at the finale.

Organised since 2004, the NTPC Electron Quiz is a flagship initiative focused on learning and intellectual development among students. This year's edition was themed 'The World of Business & Management' and featured participation from institutions across the country.
