New Delhi/Bhubaneswar: Odisha Mining Corporation Ltd. (OMC)’s Kurmitar Iron Ore Mines has won the Pollution Control Excellence Award 2026 in the Mines Category for its efforts in pollution control, environmental management and adoption of sustainable mining practices.

The award has been presented by the State Pollution Control Board, Odisha (SPCB) during its 43rd Foundation Day ceremony held at the Krishi Siksha Sadan Auditorium, OUAT, Bhubaneswar, on Friday.

The recognition acknowledges Kurmitar Mines’ sustained efforts to strengthen environmental management and implement pollution control measures while promoting responsible mining practices.

The award also highlights OMC’s focus on expanding sustainable mining practices across its mining operations.

OMC, a wholly owned corporation of the Government of Odisha, is among the leading mining companies in the country. The corporation plays a key role in the State’s mineral-based industrial ecosystem through the utilisation of mineral resources and contributes to Odisha’s economic development as well as the country’s mineral security.
