Rourkelites participates in swachhta campaign of RSP

Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) organised a swachhta campaign to create awareness among the Rourkelites regarding cleanliness in the ongoing festive season

Rourkela: SAIL's Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) organised a Swachhta campaign on Tuesday. In the campaign, thousands of Rourkelites, including employees, CISF personnel, the general public and students participated.

RSP's CEO Dipak Chattaraj was the chief guest at the programme. Speaking on the occasion, he expressed happiness over the participation of such a huge number of people in the drive and exhorted everyone to keep the surroundings clean. On the occasion, directors and senior officials of RSP were present who commenced the programme.

Objective

The objective of the RSP swachhta campaign' is to create awareness among Rourkelites regarding cleanliness. In the ongoing festive season, there is a lot of movement in public places, resulting in generation of more waste.

RSP is organising a number of programmes to mark the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Making the industrial city clean and green and fulfilling the dream of the 'Mahatma of a Swachha Bharat' is one important aspect of the Swachhta campaign, a press release said.

Rourkela Steel Plant

RSP, is the first integrated steel plant in the public sector in India. It was set-up with German collaboration with an installed capacity of 1 million tonnes. Subsequently, its capacity was enhanced to 2 million tonnes of hot metal, 1.9 million tonnes of crude steel and 1.67 million tonnes of saleable steel. After implementing a massive modernisation and expansion, RSP has enhanced its capacity to 4.5 million tonnes of Hot Metal and 4.2 Million Tonnes of Crude Steel.
