RSP inaugurates ‘Refrigerated Air Driers’

Rourkela: Six new Refrigerated Air Driers were inaugurated at the Compressed Air Station of Oxygen Plant of Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) by RSP's Executive Director (Works) Gautam Banerjee on December 13. The system worth Rs 1.06 crore has been installed in the Compressed Air Station of Oxygen Plant for supplying dry compressed air to the casters of Steel Melting Shop – II. Each of the refrigerated type air driers is of 5,000 Nm3/hr capacity.

The system was installed to fulfil the requirement of dry air in casters of SMS-II to resolve the problem of nozzle chocking in spray cooling, reduced air pressure due to water accumulation in pipelines etc. The erection, installation and commissioning work was coordinated by Oxygen Plant and SMS-II.

Present on the occasion were Chief General Manager Incharge (Services) CR Mohapatra, General Manager Incharge, SMS – II (Mechanical) AV Rajasekhar, General Manager Incharge SMS – II (Electrical) BS Kartha, General Manager Incharge (Oxygen Plant) B Mallik, General Manager (Oxygen Plant) SS Saini and several GMs, other Officers and employees of Oxygen Plant, SMS – II and Instrumentation Department.

The project work and the inauguration function were coordinated by the RSP's General Manager (Oxygen Plant) Asha Kartha.
