It may be noted that the Plate Mill re-heating furnace is used to reheat slabs from CCM-1 and CCM-2 to the rollable temperature of 1,280°C. Slabs are carried inside the furnace from charging end to discharging end with hydraulic mechanism and skid pipe arrangement. Skid pads are welded on fixed and movable skid pipe at a regular interval. Each and every skid pad is required to be in position for a smooth transfer of slabs inside the furnace.
