New Delhi: SJVN Limited marked International Women’s Day 2025 with a grand celebration in Shimla, aligning with this year’s theme, “Accelerate Action.” The event underscored the importance of swift and decisive steps towards gender equality and women’s empowerment, drawing participation from approximately 200 women, including employees and members of the SJVN Ladies Club.

SJVN Director (Personnel) Ajay Kumar Sharma graced the occasion, highlighting the company’s commitment to fostering an inclusive and diverse workplace. “Empowering women within our organization is not just a policy but a fundamental value that drives our collective success,” he stated. He further emphasized the necessity of concrete actions to bridge gender disparities in professional settings.

The event featured distinguished speakers, including Satwant Atwal, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Government of Himachal Pradesh, and Dr Puja Negi Rajta, Associate Professor at IGMC Shimla.

Addressing the audience, Atwal shared insights from her trailblazing journey in law enforcement. “Breaking barriers is never easy, but with determination and support, women can excel in any field,” she remarked, inspiring attendees to pursue their ambitions fearlessly.

Dr Puja Negi Rajta highlighted the pivotal role of women in healthcare, emphasizing, “True empowerment begins when women are given equal opportunities to learn, lead, and contribute meaningfully to society.” Her address reinforced the need for accelerated action in recognizing and supporting women’s contributions in critical sectors.

A panel discussion featuring senior women executives of SJVN- Mamta Katoch, DGM (SE), Surekha Rao, DGM (CP), Meenu Singh, DGM (CP), and Neena Chauhan, DGM (HR) provided valuable perspectives on women’s leadership and inclusivity. The discussion was moderated by Dr Vandana Bagharia, Senior Manager (HR).

The event concluded with a collective commitment to implementing strategies that promote gender equality, reinforcing SJVN’s dedication to the theme of ‘Accelerate Action’ for International Women’s Day 2025.
