New Delhi: Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL) has been conferred 'National Safety Award' (Mines) 2015 and 2016 for being accident-free for the longest duration and having the lowest injury frequency rate.

Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu presented the award to NCL at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi on December 16. NCL's Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) Prabhat Kumar Sinha received the award on behalf of NCL. Minister of State (Independent Charge), Labour & Employment, was also present on the occasion.

On this occasion, NCL's Director (Technical/Operations) Gunadhar Pandey, NCL's Director (Technical, Project & Planning) MK Prasad, NCL's General Manager (Kakri Coal Area) LP Godse, NCL's General Manager (Safety) Sapan Srivastava, Trade Union representative Shivmuni Singh and LB Singh were also present on behalf of NCL.

Notably, the Ministry of Labour and Employment gives away 'National Safety Award' since 1965 to promote safe industrial activities, workers' health and well-being. In recognition to excellence and commitment displayed by Kakri coal area of NCL, it was declared the winner of LAFP ( Longest Accident-Free Period) for the year 2015 and runner-up for LIFRM (Lowest Injury Frequency Rate per lakh Manshift) for the year 2016.
