New Delhi: Atanu Chakraborty has been given additional charge of the post of Secretary at Department of Expenditure on Wednesday, an official release said. Chakraborty replaces GC Murmu, who was named as the first Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir last week.

Murmu, who comes from Odisha, has previously served as Principal Secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his tenure as the Gujarat Chief Minister.

"The competent authority has approved the assignment of the additional charge of the post of Secretary, Department of Expenditure, to Chakraborty with immediate effect," the official order said.

Chakraborty is a 1985-batch IAS officer of the Gujarat cadre and is currently serving as Secretary at Department of Economic Affairs.
