BHEL signs an MoU with CSIR

New Delhi: State-run Maharatna PSU Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), under the administrative control of the Department of Heavy Industries, has signed a memorandum of agreement (MoU) with Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) for commercialisation and implementation of indigenously developed technologies by CSIR. The first project to be taken up under the MoU will be the commercialisation of various water purification and sewage disposal-related technologies, the PSU said in a press release.

The MoU was signed by BHEL's Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) Dr Nalin Shinghal and CSIR's Director-General & Secretary Dr Shekhar C Mande on December 9 in New Delhi. On the occasion, BHEL's Director (Industrial Systems & Products) S Balakrishnan, Director (Engineering, Research & Development) Kamalesh Das and senior officials of BHEL and CSIR were also present.

Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)

The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) was established by the government in September 1942, as an autonomous body that has emerged as the largest research and development organisation in India.

The research and development activities of CSIR include aerospace engineering, structural engineering, ocean sciences, life sciences, metallurgy, chemicals, mining, food, petroleum, leather, and environmental science.
