New Delhi: Pankaj Malhotra, Executive Director (Finance), Central Electronics Limited (CEL), a PSU under the Department of Scientific & Industrial Research (DSIR), Ministry of Science & Technology, has received the "Best CFO of the year" award. He was awarded by the 'Institute of Economic Studies (IES)' at its Indo-Thai Economic Seminar at Bangkok in Thailand on August 20. Malhotra joined CEL as ED (Finance) on September 16, 2016. Prior to joining CEL, he has worked with SAIL and IRCTC at corporate and branch level.
During his stint at SAIL and IRCTC, he has handled funds management, project appraisals, taxation, costing and budget, tender evaluation, MoU finalisation. He also has rich experience in judicious financial management, implementation of best practices and procedures. "He has enabled CEL to turn around and go from a loss-making PSU to a profit-making PSU. He wiped out its accumulated losses completely during 2017-18," an official press release said.
During his tenure, CEL has won a number of awards and accolades, including the prestigious Excellence in cost management for the last two consecutive years in a row for 2017 and 2018 awarded by the Institute of Cost Accountants of India.
