Dr PK Mishra appointed PS to the Prime Minister

Dr PK Mishra has been appointed as Principal Secretary to the PM and he replaces Nripendra Misra, who resigned last month

New Delhi: Dr Pramod Kumar Mishra has been appointed as Principal Secretary (PS) to the Prime Minister. He has taken charge of the post on Wednesday. He replaces Nripendra Misra, who resigned last month. Prior to this appointment, Mishra was serving as Additional Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister.

"Dr Mishra introduced innovation and transformative changes in Human Resource Management, particularly appointments to senior positions during 2014-19, as he was Additional Principal Secretary. He has been conferred with the United Nations 'SASAKAWA Award 2019,' the most prestigious international award in disaster management, recently," said a press release issued by the Prime Minister's Office (PMO).

Mishra has varied work experience & holds a Ph D in Economics

Dr Mishra has varied work experience in the management of programmes related to agriculture, disaster management and power sector, infrastructure financing and regulatory issues. He also has experience in policymaking and administration and has handled major assignments, such as Secretary Agriculture and Cooperation, Chairman of State Electricity Regulatory Commission, and various responsibilities in Disaster management.

"Dr Mishra holds a Ph D degree in Economics/Development Studies from the University of Sussex. He completed an MA in Development Economics from the University of Sussex and also holds an MA in Economics with a first-class from the Delhi School of Economics. He has a BA Hons. (Economics) with a first-class and distinction in other subjects from GM College (Sambalpur University) in 1970. He was the only one to get a first-class in Economics among all the universities of Odisha," the release added.
