EIL signs contract with EPC Packages in Mongolia for Mongol Refinery project

An EPC contract agreement for EPC Packages in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, has been signed for the Mongol Refinery Project, said EIL, the PMC for the refinery project

New Delhi: Mongol Refinery (MR) Project, being executed by Engineers India Limited (EIL) as Project Management Consultant (PMC), has achieved a critical milestone with the signing of an EPC contract agreement for EPC Packages in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia on Friday, a statement by EIL said on Friday.

S Amarsaikhan, HE Deputy Prime Minister of Mongolia, HE MP Singh, Ambassador of India to Mongolia, Dr Altan, CEO-Mongol Refinery, Vartika Shukla, MD, EIL and senior officials were present at the occasion.

"Mongol Refinery having 1.5 MMTPA crude throughput is being set up in Mongolia with lines of credit fund from the Government of India," said a press release issued by EIL.

The project is also part of the Development Partnership Administration initiative of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), it added.

"EIL is committed to successfully executing this G2G collaboration project of national importance that will enhance the energy security of Mongolia. Mongolia is presently importing Diesel, Gasoline, Jet fuel, LPG etc from its neighbouring countries. The construction of this refinery shall also open numerous job opportunities and cater to the development of industries in the vicinity aiding Mongolia's economic growth in the years to come," said the statement.
