Haldia: A flash fire broke out on October 17 at Indian Oil's Haldia refinery. As per the local media reports, three workers were severely injured and sustained burn injuries. The workers were immediately referred to a hospital in Kolkata after the initial treatment at Haldia refinery hospital.
The incident occurred after hot water fell into the gas mixing plant, leading to a flash fire. After the incident, the area was sealed, a report by Mint said. Also, there were no casualties.
In December 2021, a massive flash fire at the Naptha-Hydrogen mixing plant in IOC's Haldia refinery killed three workers and injured 44 others during a maintenance-related work in the refinery. Since then, workers at IOC have been demanding better protection. Post the incident, the district magistrate held a meeting with the owners of several factories, including the IOC refinery, to prevent such incidents that put the spotlight on the safety of workers.
The report said that IOC was not available to comment on the incident outside of normal business hours.
