New Delhi: State-owned power equipment manufacturer, Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has appointed Kamlesh Das as the new Director-Engineering, R&D of the company after he took over as a director on the board of the public sector undertaking (PSU). Das, 57, comes with over 36 years of experience in the energy, transmission and industrial systems space. He has previously headed various business verticals as executive director at BHEL's industry sector, which is responsible for carrying out diversification and growth initiatives.

He has looked after renewable energy, industrial systems, electrical and transmission products over the course of his career. He has also headed multiple manufacturing units of BHEL, including insulator plant at Jagdishpur, component fabrication plant at Rudrapur and electro-porcelains division in Bengaluru. Das has a degree in engineering from Calcutta University and he also holds a post-graduate diploma in management. He had joined BHEL as an Engineer Trainee at the company's Insulator Plant in 1982.
