Sambalpur: Coal India Limited's (CIL) Chairman Anil Kumar Jha, along with Ministry of Coal's Additional Secretary VK Tiwari, chaired a review meeting of the Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) at its headquarter Sambalpur on Tuesday. MCL's Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) BN Shukla, along with Board of Directors and senior officials of MCL, were also present in the meeting.

Speaking on the occasion, Jha emphasised that MCL should improve its capacity utilisation and increase its production to reach targets and stop the import of coal, Coal India said in a tweet.

Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL)

Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) is one of the major coal-producing company of India. It is one of the eight subsidiaries of Coal India Limited. Mahanadi Coalfields Limited was carved out of South Eastern Coalfields Limited in 1992 with its headquarters at Sambalpur. It has its coal mines spread across Odisha. The company has a total of seven open cast mines and three underground mines under its fold.

MCL has two subsidiaries with private companies as a joint venture. The names of these companies are MJSJ Coal Limited & MNH Shakti Limited.
