From hockey gold to badminton bronze, ONGC-backed athletes make their mark at Asian Games 2026

New Delhi: ONGC-backed athletes contribute eight medals, including four golds, to India’s campaign at the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, with sportspersons supported by the PSU winning medals across hockey, athletics, archery, shooting and badminton.

Hockey player Sumit is part of the Indian men’s team that retains the Asian Games title, while archer Kirti Sharma helps India secure gold in the women’s team event. Shooter Suruchi also finishes on top in the 10m air pistol mixed team event.

Athletics provides another major highlight, with M.R. Poovamma securing two medals — gold in the women’s 4x400m relay and silver in the mixed 4x400m relay. The Indian women’s quartet clocks 3:29.69 to finish ahead of Bahrain and China.

Neeru Pathak adds another silver as part of the women’s 4x400m relay team, while Pooja wins bronze in the women’s high jump with a 1.84m clearance, giving India another podium finish in the event.

On the badminton court, veteran H.S. Prannoy is part of India’s bronze-winning men’s team.

The eight-medal haul — four golds, two silvers and two bronzes — spans team events, relays and individual competitions, highlighting the breadth of ONGC’s support for Indian sport.
