NRL emerges as highest corporate taxpayer in North Eastern region

New Delhi/Guwahati: Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) has been felicitated for being the highest tax payer corporate. The oil PSU has emerged as the highest corporate taxpayer in the North Eastern Region for the financial year 2020-21. 

NRL's Managing Director SK Barua has been felicitated with the trophy for 'Top Income Tax Payer in NER' by Principal Commissioner of Income Tax Department (North-East Region) Raju Tayeng at a function held by Income Tax Department at Aaykar Bhawan, Guwahati on September 1, 2021, as part of 'Azadi Ka Jan Utsav' organised to mark 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.'

Earlier in the financial year 2018-19 also NRL had been adjudged the highest income taxpayer.

The Income Tax Department expressed its gratitude for the immense contribution made by NRL to the Government exchequer. The function was also graced by Tokyo Olympic Bronze Medalist Lovlina Borgohain.

"NRL is privileged and honoured to be a part of nation-building facilitated in a large measure by income tax revenue collections," the company said in an official statement.
